‘Perform or Perish’ as SKY & Sanju Samson gets last chance to secure World Cup spot

Last chance for SKY and Sanju Samson to perform in IND vs WI 3rd ODI to secure spot in World Cup 2023 Squad

The Indian Cricket Team has gifted Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson a last chance to perform or perish. The deal is simple, if they perform well, they will be in contention to make it to the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023 squad. With replacements available and the return of Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul, both SKY and Samson need to showcase their finest standards in the IND vs WI 3rd ODI game.

Suryakumar Yadav despite being the World Number 1 batter in T20s has been a major flop in ODIs. But Rahul David and co have consistently put their trust in SKY for his x-factor. But now with time running short and the World Cup squad needs to be fixed, SKY has to perform well on his potential last chance to secure his spot in the team.

For Sanju Samson, the dynamics are no different. The Rajasthan Royals skipper has to perform well. Though Samson can argue that he has been scarcely given a chance in the Indian team. But the Kerala wicketkeeper failed to perform when he got his chance to wear the blue jersey.

Moreover, adding to the threat in the Indian team are the returning KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. While the injured duo continues to build their match fitness at the NCA and is not a part of the Indian squad for Ireland tour, the duo will return for the Asia Cup.

KL is the designated wicketkeeper in the ODI squad and will stand being the stumps in the Asia Cup and the World Cup. Ishan Kishan will stay on the team as the backup keeper. So this makes it even more difficult for Sanju to prove his point unless he performs well today.

As for SKY, Shreyas Iyer’s return will see the latter securing his spot in the middle order of the team. Therefore, it is upto Mr.360 to put up a sensational performance to remind the selectors not to drop him.

India Playing XI: Ishan Kishan(w), Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya(c), Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat, Kuldeep Yadav, Mukesh Kumar
