Team India’s Ravindra Jadeja defended coach Rahul Dravid choice to rest veteran stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli during 2nd ODI vs West Indies. The star all-rounder also confirmed that the India Playing XI combination for Asia Cup 2023 is pre-decided.
India Team management and coach Rahul Dravid came under scrutiny recently after India lost 2nd ODI vs West Indies. For the match, both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were rested as India went with a rather inexperienced playing XI. Fans blasted this approach by India as they demanded consistency in starting 11 ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023 and Asia Cup 2023.

“This series, which comes before the Asia Cup and World Cup, gives us a chance to experiment and test out various lineups. We won’t be able to conduct any experiments until we travel to compete in the Asia Cup and World Cup. It’s excellent that we will have a better understanding of the balance, strengths, and weaknesses of the team, Jadeja told reporters on Monday ahead of the IND vs WI 3rd ODI.

India Playing XI decided for Asia Cup 2023
The eagerly awaited Asia Cup 2023 will start on August 30 and last till September 17. The 2023 Asia Cup will be co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka, and it will be held in four cities. Multan and Lahore in Pakistan and Kandy and Colombo in Sri Lanka are among the four venues.
Ravindra Jadeja in media interaction revealed that the management of the team is aware of the starting XI.
“The captain and team management are aware of the lineup they will use. There is absolutely no ambiguity. The experiments did not cause us to lose the game; occasionally, the environment also has an impact. One loss, in my opinion, won’t lead to any uncertainty or doubt. The combination for the Asia Cup 2023 has already been determined”, said Jadeja.
The long-awaited Asia Cup 2023 schedule was not so of good news for the India Cricket Team.
If Men in Blue make it to the final, Rohit Sharma and company will play 6 ODIs in Kandy and Colombo over the course of 15 days.
Three of those six matches could happen between India and Pakistan. It is a challenging task for India to play in hot and muggy weather in Sri Lanka given their history of long-term ailments. It causes injury concerns before the ODI World Cup 2023.
