Ahead of Asia Cup 2023, here's all you need to know about the stats and records of the 4 venues to host games in SL and PAK.

The highly-anticipated Asia Cup 2023 will be held from August 30. Asia Cup 2023 will be jointly hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka, with the matches to take place in four cities. The four cities include Pakistan’s Multan and Lahore and Sri Lanka’s Kandy and Colombo.

Asia Cup 2023 will commence from August 30 and will go on till September 17. Four matches, including a Super 4s game, will be played in Pakistan while the remainder of games will be played in Sri Lanka. Ahead of Asia Cup 2023, let’s take a look at the venues, the records and stats associated with the stadiums.

Asia Cup 2023 venue #1 – Multan

Ten ODIs have been hosted by Multan so far, with 5 games won each by the sides batting and bowling first. The highest total scored in Multan is 323 runs by Pakistan against Bangladesh. Pakistan will take on Nepal in the first game of Asia Cup 2023 in Multan, the only game to be held at the venue.

Asia Cup 2023 venue #2 – Lahore

Lahore, the other Pakistan city to host Asia Cup 2023, is no stranger to hosting ODIs. A total of 69 ODIs have been played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. 34 times teams have won the game batting first while 33 times it has been done so bowling first.

Pakistan have recorded the highest total at this venue – scoring 357 runs against ZIM while the lowest total at the Gaddafi stadium is 75 runs by PAK vs SL.

  2. AFG vs SL (September 5)
  3. Super 4s A1 vs B2 (September 6)

Asia Cup 2023 venue #3 – Kandy

The Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy will host three Asia Cup 2023 games this year. Out of 35 ODIs played at this venue, 20 times the team bowling first has won the game while the team batting first has won 15 times. Kandy will host the high-octane India versus Pakistan clash on September 2.

  2. PAK vs IND (September 2)
  3. IND vs NEP (September 4)

Asia Cup 2023 venue #4 – Colombo

As many as six Asia Cup 2023 games, including the finals, are scheduled to be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The iconic venue has hosted 154 ODIs and teams batting first have won the games 83 times. Five Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 games and the finals are scheduled to be held in Colombo.

  1. B1 vs B2 (September 9)
  2. A1 vs A2 (September 10)
  3. A2 vs B1 (September 12)
  4. A1 vs B1 (September 14)
  5. A2 vs B2 (September 15)
  6. Final (September 17)

Asia Cup 2023

After months of tussle between India and Pakistan over the venue of Asia Cup, the hybrid model was finally accepted by all stakeholders including the BCCI. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced last month that India will play all their games in Sri Lanka with Pakistan hosting just four matches. Sri Lanka, meanwhile, will hold nine matches of the tournament.

Asia Cup 2023 Groups:

Group A: India, Pakistan & Nepal

Group B: Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh
