Ace India pacer Jasprit Bumrah demonstrated conclusively that he is now fully fit for the Ireland T20Is series and, more importantly, for the Asia Cup and the 2023 ODI World Cup. He dished out 10 overs to some of Mumbai’s young batsmen on Friday in an intra-squad practice match at the picturesque Alur cricket ground outside of Bengaluru.
Perhaps for the first time since suffering a stress fracture of the back in September, which has kept him out of action and required surgery earlier this year, Bumrah has bowled even in a practice game while recovering at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

Jasprit Bumrah returning to match fitness
According to information provided to TOI, Jasprit Bumrah only claimed one wicket during the “match simulation,” which comprised all the bowlers bowling to Mumbai’s batsmen.
That wicket was opener Angkrish Raghuvanshi (bowled for an eight-ball duck).
In a practice match on Saturday, Prasidh Krishna, another bowler making his comeback from a stress fracture of the spine that required surgery, bowled to Mumbai’s batters. The sum of Prasidh’s numbers, cast over three spells, was 10-2-26-1.
The BCCI had announced that both Bumrah and Krishna “will now play some practice games, which the NCA will organize” in a medical report on July 21. The medical team for the BCCI is happy with their development and will reach a conclusion after evaluating them following the practice games.
The Mumbai senior team has been staying in a KSCA facility in Alur, close to Bengaluru, for the past two weeks.
Bumrah eyeing comeback in IND vs IRE series
The secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Jay Shah, stated on Thursday that Jasprit Bumrah is in excellent physical condition and may travel with India on their upcoming August tour of Ireland. The coming week, the series roster is most likely to be revealed. This year’s three T20Is will be held on August 18, 20 and 23.
The pacer had successful back surgery back in March, and since a T20I encounter against Australia at home in September, he hasn’t played in a competitive match. When his back ailment became apparent, he had also missed a significant amount of the Asia Cup play. After that, he briefly returned to play during the home T20I series against Australia, but his ailment came back.
Jasprit Bumrah will be touring Ireland for the second time; he previously visited the nation in 2018 but broke his thumb in the first game. He was forced to miss the first half of the England tour that year due to this ailment.
