Ravindra Jadeja aced the all-rounder role effortlessly in the first ODI against West Indies

The southpaw also stated the task got much easier when Mukesh Kumar and Shardul Thakur picked up wickets with the new ball. From 45 for 3 at one stage, West Indies lost six wickets for just 26 runs, with Jadeja and Kuldeep running riot. Kuldeep picked up four wickets in just three overs.

Jadeja also lavished praise on Virat Kohli for taking an absolute stunning catch at first slip. Lavishing praise on Kohli the southpaw said, “Obviously, I felt very nice since I always take blinder of catches when other bowlers are bowling. Kohli’s catch was a really superb, low, and sharp catch because he did not get time to react as the batter drove the ball. Kohli just got about one or two seconds to react.”

Speaking about Jadeja, the all-rounder had a good outing in the first ODI as he picked up three wickets and also scored a handy unbeaten 16 runs lower down the order. The Southpaw is likely to play the finisher role in the ODI World Cup 2023. In the last two years, the 34-year-old has stepped up as a batter and provided India with the finishing touches in the back end of the innings.

Owing to his all-round skills, the all-rounder edges the likes of Axar Patel, Ashwin, and Chahal in the playing XI. Speaking about Kuldeep, he grabbed his opportunities in the first ODI and put on a stellar display. India have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series and need a win to win the ODI series in the second ODI on Saturday.
