Bhuvneshwar Kumar to retire? India pacer removes cricketer before WC 2023

Bhuvneshwar last played an international match in January 2022 against South Africa in Paarl.

India’s veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar might have hanged his boots from international cricket. The 33-year-old recently removed cricketer from his Instagram bio. Bhuvneshwar’s Insta bio which previously had ‘Indian cricketer’ on bio, now has a bio that reads: “Indian 🇮🇳 Family First. Pet lover. Casual Gamer”.

Bhuvneshwar last played an ODI for India in January 2022 against South Africa in Paarl, where wicketless in 8 overs. Since then, he has been sidelined from the ODI squad due to injuries and poor form.

According to TheCricketLounge, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is likely to announce his retirement from international cricket after the India vs Ireland series. The report also claimed that Ravichandran Ashwin can also hang his boots from limited overs cricket.

The pacer was also part of the T20 World Cup squad in November 2022, where he played four matches and took three wickets. He last played a T20I against New Zealand in Napier, where he went wicketless in four overs. He was also ignored for the T20I series against West Indies.

He was also not a part of the BCCI’s contract this year and is not in plans for the upcoming ODI World Cup as well.

Bhuvneshwar has played 21 Tests, 117 ODIs and 48 T20Is for India, taking 63, 132 and 49 wickets, respectively. He is the only Indian bowler to take five-wicket hauls in all three formats.
