Brighton reject Chelsea’s £80million bid for Moises Caicedo as Blues fail to match valuation

Brighton has rejected Chelsea's 4th bid of £80million for Moises Caicedo. Seagulls unwilling to sell untill vaulation of £100million is met.

Chelsea’s pursuit of Brighton’s defensive midfielder has received a major roadblock. Brighton has rejected £80million bid from the London Blues. This was however Chelsea’s revised bid (fourth) for the player, but the Seagulls wasted no time to reject the bid as it doesn’t match their valuation for the player.

Chelsea has targetted the Ecuadorian midfielder and has pursued him throughout the summer transfer window. The London Blues initially submitted a bid of £ 60m for the 21-year-old player and then went on increasing the amount to £65m, £70m, and finally a £80million which has also been rejected.

The £80million bid consisted of a fee of £75m with £5m extra in add-ons. But the valuation doesn’t match the standards of the Seagulls who are unwilling to sell their player at a reduced price at any cost.

As for the player, Moises Caicedo is keen for the move to the London-based club but it is Brighton who is unwilling to sell him if the proper valuation is not met. Caicedo signed a new contract, extending his stay with the Seagulls and thus there is no way that Brighton will let the player leave for a reduced amount.

Moreover, Declan Rice’s £105m move to Arsenal from West Ham United has caught everyone’s attention, thereby generating a cause for Brighton to bring Caicedo’s valuation to a similar level.

Brighton has earlier rejected offers from Chelsea and Arsenal who were keen to buy the player in the winter transfer market in January. As for Chelsea, despite spending big bucks in the past summer transfer market, they have a poor finish and have subsequently revised their team-building strategy.

This summer Chelsea has gone on to sell Kai Havertz to Arsenal and Mateo Kovacic to Manchester City.
