Liverpool offers improved bid for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia

Liverpool is ready with the improved bid for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia. The Reds want to finish this deal before the opening game of the Premier League.

Romeo Lavia Transfer: Liverpool are ready to go stronger in the pursuit of Romeo Lavia. The Reds have come out with the second offer worth £45m for the Southampton midfielder. They previously offered a bid that was rejected by the championship side.

Last season left Liverpool with tough questions in midfield and Jurgen Klopp put his heart to make full focus on the midfield section. This summer, they already lost Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner. However, they signed a prominent midfielder from Brighton, Alexis Mac Allister, and also have Dominik Szoboszlai.

Fabinho and Jordan Henderson are likely to sign new deals with Saudi clubs. Fabinho’s switch to Saudi Arabia is still in doubt but Henderson already posted a farewell message on Instagram. He has left the club after spending 12 years at Anfield.

According to 90min, Southampton rejected the opening offer for Lavia, comprising £35m plus add-ons. The Saints are looking to pocket a fee of at least £50m for the Belgian. Man City have a buy-back clause which was inserted in the deal that saw him join Southampton, It becomes active next summer. Lavia is also on the radar of Arsenal and Chelsea so Liverpool have to be aware of this fact.

Liverpool still put themselves in the frontrunner’s position. The second bid can assure their signing of the Belgian midfielder. This bid will be worth £45m overall, comprised of £40m plus an additional £5m in add-ons. This is an amount that falls short of the Championship side’s valuation.

Lavia is also open to making a move to Anfield. The Reds want to finalise the deal before the opening game of the season. Their Singapore tour will come to an end next Wednesday. If Lavia joins, he will complete Klopp’s midfield issues. They already have two new players Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. The trio can be solid which can help Liverpool to fight out for the top-four finish and challenge Man City for the title.
