Rohit Sharma unsure of WC combination, says ‘need 11-12 ODIs to find Best XI’

India Team skipper Rohit Sharma is unsure of his playing XI for World Cup 2023, needs 11-12 ODIs to decide

India’s preparation for the ICC World Cup 2023 continues as the Men in Blue are ready to take on West Indies in the IND vs WI 1st ODI. This 3-match series is crucial for Rohit Sharma and Co to try and test various combinations ahead of the mega tournament. Rohit Sharma stated that 10-12 ODI matches before the World Cup will be enough to select the squad for the tournament.

Ahead of the First game, India skipper Rohit Sharma spoke to the press where he shared his views and team India’s plans ahead of the mega tournament. Sharma stated the youngsters and the new players in the team will be given opportunities to get much-needed game time.

The West Indies series is important as there are many new players who are inexperienced and we are providing them the opportunity to play and give them certain roles. We also get the option to see how these players play and respond,” said Rohit Sharma.

India has a bunch of ODI fixtures lined up before the World Cup. These include the 3 games in the West Indies series, followed by the Asia Cup and the home series against Australia in late September.

We are playing 3 ODIs here, in Asia Cup we will play 5-6 games, After that the Australia series, so in total we will play 11-12 ODI matches which is a decent time to understand which players will be a part of the team,” said Rohit Sharma.

After these games, the final squad for the World Cup will be decided. The skipper, the coach along with the BCCI Selection Committee will pick their brains to choose the team.
