In the ongoing Sri Lanka vs Pakistan 2nd Test, Mohammad Rizwan came on as a concussion substitute for Sarfaraz Ahmed. The latter was hit on the head while ducking a bouncer and has left the field. Rizwan joins the playing XI as a concussion substitute.

The Pakistan Cricket Board also claimed that the match referee David Boon had no objections to the substitute change and therefore Rizwan got his chance to play the game. The PCB further added that Sarfaraz Ahmed will now remain under the medical attention of the PCB’s Medical Board.
Sarafaraz was batting unbeaten on 14 before being retired hurt. He was struck on the head in the afternoon session of the ongoing SL vs PAK 2nd Test on Day 3. The batter got hit on his head when he tried to duck a bouncer by Asitha Fernando.

Sri Lanka Cricket took to social media to report the incident to the fans. Their statement read, “Sarfaraz Ahmed has been replaced by Mohammad Rizwan as a concussion substitute in the ongoing second Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at the Singhalese Sports Club after match referee David Boon accepted the Pakistan team management’s request for the substitution.”

In the final session of Day 3, Pakistan boasts of having a lead of over 300 runs.
