Community Outraged as Saggy Qualify for BGMS Season 2

Community Outraged as Saggy, who was suspended back in 2022 for hacking, made a comeback in BGMS season 2 and was qualified for Lan event.

Cheating is not tolerated at any level in the world of sports or eSports. Sagar Kumar, aka Saggy, who was caught hacking in 2022 and was suspended by BGMI, has come back and qualified for BGMS Season 2, which will be broadcast on television.

Saggy is set to attend the BGMI Masters Series 2023 Lan event. He announced the qualification through his Instagram story

Finally, After 1 year and 6 months Grinding all day for this day, “Jo jo bolre the BKL ki hack ye wo Bhai Nodwin verified devices and pov 4 matches kidi hai.” Thank you so much, Nodwingaming. Qualified for lan Ab dikate h gameplay Kisse kehte hai.

Saggy thanked Nodwin Gaming for giving him a chance, but the Indian Gaming Industry is not happy with this decision. Many reputable people in the industry say that it’s not good for esports if a player is banned for using hacks and comes back. The industry believes that the ban should last longer than one year to set an example.

Kartik Sabherwal, the founder of Upthrust eSports, says that This is not good for eSports!

I know there’s no governing body for esports that regulates or streamlines things with proper rule sets! But I believe we will never reach that stage if things like these happen! Hacking is illegal and destroys the spirit of competition! If we don’t take a stand against it or unite as one, then we are in the wrong boat. If some e-athlete tried to hack or disturb the competitive spirit of the game, he or she must be banned for a minimum period of 3 years from all the competitive events!

Rushindra Sinha, the founder of Global Esports, states,

I’m all for second chances; everyone who knows me knows that I strongly believe in second chances and that everyone deserves another shot, BUT not when it wasn’t a mistake. This was a case of someone intentionally CHEATING or HACKING willingly (not accidentally) to get an unfair advantage in the game and robbing others of that opportunity. If someone was caught doing something like this in sports, they wouldn’t be let back in. I’m all for comeback stories, but this isn’t one of them. This isn’t about how hard he’s worked the last 18 months, but the fact that he willingly chose to compromise the competitive integrity of the sport for his own personal fame and gain. This is NOT okay.

The BGMI Masters Series Season 2 is scheduled to start on August 4, 2023, and will be telecast on Star Sports Network and Rooter. Saggy is qualified for the Lan event after taking the top 5 position in the BGMS Season 2 qualifiers.

NODWIN Gaming, one of the world’s leading emerging market gaming and esports media company, in association with Star Sports, India’s leading sports broadcaster, has announced the highly anticipated return of India’s biggest esports tournament, BGMI Masters Series.  Building upon its record-shattering success in season 1, the upcoming season 2 of the BGMI Masters Series which kicks off on August 4, will feature 24 teams, and offer one of the highest-ever prize pools of INR 2.1 crore (over USD 250K) for a non-publisher event.

Among the 24 teams, 14 esports outfits will be invited directly, while the remaining 10 spots are to be earned by the victors from the Open Qualifier where anyone in India can participate.
