Rishabh Pant has recently begun batting and keeping in the nets, BCCI recently said in their latest update. However, it looks like the wicketkeeper-batsman won’t be fit in time for the 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup.
Pant, who was seriously injured in an accident earlier this year, has been ruled out of all the tournaments to be held so far. Yet, with the southpaw’s progress with rehabilitation at the NCA, fans are hopeful of his comeback at the 2023 World Cup. However, this former Indian star opines otherwise.
‘Won’t return before next IPL’: Ishant Sharma on Rishabh Pant
Speaking to Jio Cinema, former Indian pacer Ishant Sharma opined that Rishabh Pant won’t be able to make a comeback until or after IPL 2024. Ishant Sharma further said that it was very good for Rishabh Pant to not have a second surgery as it would have taken more time to recover. He further said that, depending on other factors, Pant’s recovery before IPL 2024 was much possible.
Rishabh Pant’s return
After the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), through their medical team, provided fans with the exciting news of Rishabh Pant making incredible progress to make a comeback on the Indian Team, a BCCI source has given a timestamp to when we could see the southpaw make his return in the Indian jersey.
“He has made significant progress in his rehabilitation and has commenced batting as well as keeping in the nets. He is currently following a fitness programme designed for him which includes strength, flexibility and running” BCCI said in their medical updates on players.
