Pennanen began his career in his hometown’s Kuopion Palloseura Academy. He was a mainstay in Finnish football, making over 300 league games across all categories. Throughout his career, the midfielder has played in the Netherlands, Poland, Indonesia, and the United States.

In 2018 and 2019, Pennanen achieved the honor of being voted Team of the Year in the Veikkausliiga for the second year in a row. He was also awarded Midfielder of the Year in the Veikkausliiga in 2018, 2019, and 2022. He has been in excellent form at Tampereen Ilves, where he also served as captain.

“I promise I will give everything I have every single moment I step on the field. I like to keep the ball and my biggest strength is my passing. Hope I can add a few goals as well to my game,” he said.

Pennanen joins Australian Joe Knowles and Costa Rican Jonathan Moya as the club’s third new foreign signing.
