The India Women vs Bangladesh Women ODI series culminated in a dramatic stalemate at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, with the trophy shared. Although there were some heated moments on Saturday (July 22), with Harmanpreet Kaur anger and frustration aimed notably towards the umpires.
It was expected that Harmanpreet would be docked her full match fee and may even be suspended for a few games for multiple violations of the ICC players’ code of conduct during and after the game against Bangladesh. Her comments on umpiring in the post-match interview can also be considered unsporting.
Now, after Harmanpreet’s outrageous action grabbed the headlines, the ICC has docked the Indian skipper 75% of her match fee and given her 3 demerit points for her defiance towards the umpires.

The first big event occurred when Yastika Bhatia was given out lbw. She kept her ground and gazed at the umpire before making her way to the changing room.
It reached boiling point when Harmanpreet was caught at slip off Nahida Akter while attempting a sweep in the 34th over of India’s chase of 226. Was it off the pads, or did a glove or bat get in the way? Harmanpreet struck the stumps with her bat after being called out, then addressed the umpires before walking away, giving the audience a thumbs-up.
Harmanpreet Kaur later described the umpiring as pathetic. “Some pathetic umpiring was done, and we are extremely disappointed with some of the umpires’ decisions,” the India skipper said at the post-match presentation.
The story did not finish with the post-match presentation, as Harmanpreet allegedly made some statements that caused home team captain Nigar Sultana to leave during the official photo session.
“There are some discussions that cannot be revealed. Whatever happened, I didn’t think I should have stayed with the team. So I left from there,” Sultana said during a post-match press conference when her attention was raised to what happened in the photo session.
According to ESPNcricinfo, during the end-of-series photo with both sets of players, Harmanpreet Kaur said “bring the umpires too,” implying they were part of the Bangladesh team. According to reports, Nigar discussed it with BCB authorities before returning her team to the locker room.
