The hype and ecstatic was so much around this clash that Miami co-owner David Beckham was in literal tears after Lionel Messi scored a dramatic late winner on his debut with Major League Soccer (MLS) club.
The World Cup winner took the pitch for the first time in a Miami jersey as the club faced Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup.
As he walked onto the pitch in the 53rd minute, the 20,000+ fans inside the DRV PNK Stadium erupted in applause.
The 36-year-old put on a smooth display for the fans, proving that even in the MLS, he’s still the football GOAT.
But fans couldn’t have picked a better time to see the tiny magician make his debut.

The game’s finest player, a seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, scored in the 94th minute on a free kick from roughly 25 yards, earning Inter Miami a 2-1 Leagues Cup victory over Mexican team Cruz Azul.
His left foot sent the ball over a wall of four Cruz Azul defenders and into the upper left corner of the net, without a doubt the best moment in Inter Miami’s brief history. Play continued for almost a minute until the referee blew his whistle and pyrotechnics erupted into the night sky.
