Kohli played his trademark cover drives and hit 8 fours on a heavy outfield to remain unbeaten on 87 in 161 deliveries. Jadeja has played cautiously so far adding 36 runs in 84 balls. Jomel Warrican (1/55), Jason Holder (1/30), Shannon Gabriel (1/50) and Kemar Roach (1/64) all picked up a wicket apiece in the afternoon session.
The final session belonged completely to India as Kohli-Jadeja didn’t make a single error despite some visible footmarks on the pitch first day itself. Kohli had a scare when he dived to get back in the crease turning for a couple and got some medical attention.
For West Indies, substitute fielder Kevin Sinclair injured himself in the deep with Tagenarine Chanderpaul getting hit on the wrists at short leg by Virat Kohli in the final over of the day. The Windies pacers showed lack of intent and failed to put some short stuff in action making it easier for the pair to put up runs on the board. It will be a tough task ahead of them on Day 2.
