Bangladesh to begin Asia Cup 2023 campaign against Sri Lanka, Check Schedule

Bangladesh will get their Asia Cup 2023 campaign underway on 31st August 2023. They will face defending champions Sri Lanka in their first group encounter.

Bangladesh will get their Asia Cup 2023 campaign underway on 31st August 2023. They are placed in Group B alongside Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. The team is likely to be led by Tamim Iqbal and they will kickstart the tournament against defending champions Sri Lanka at Kandy.

The tournament, which runs from August 31 to September 17, will see the top Asian sides divided into two groups. Bangladesh are placed alongside Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. Top two sides from each group will be moving ahead.

Sri Lanka and Pakistan will host the event. Hence, Bangladesh will have to travel to Pakistan for their second group encounter against Afghanistan. This match will be played on 3rd September 2023 at Lahore. Placed in a tough group, Bangladesh will face challenge against the defending champions Sri Lanka and an improved Afghanistan side.

Bangladesh have never won the title at the Asia Cup so far. Their best performance include three runner-up finishes in 2012, 2016, and 2018. They will aim to lift their first-ever title in the upcoming edition. However it will be easier said than done.

Bangladesh recently lost the ODI series against Afghanistan at home. With both the teams placed in the same group, their match against the Hashmatullah Shahidi’s side remains crucial for their chances to qualify for the Super 4 stage.
