Afghanistan will take on Bangladesh in their opening encounter of the Asia Cup 2023. The match is set to be played in Lahore on September 3 (Sunday). Their second match will be against Sri Lanka at the same venue on September 5 (Tuesday). Hashmatullah Shahidi and Co will definitely want to perform well in the competition and try to win the contest for the first time.

Two groups of three teams each will play a total of 12 matches in groups and Super Fours stage before the final on September 17 in Sri Lanka. Pakistan is in Group A, along with Nal and India, while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan are in Group B.
Apart from the opening match in Multan – a new addition in the draft schedule as opposed to the previous versions, Bangladesh vs Afghanistan on September 3, Sri Lanka vs Afghanistan on September 5 and a Super Fours match between A1 and B2 is scheduled to be played in Lahore, Pakistan.
Recently, Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh in an ODI series that too in their home conditions. They will be facing Bangla Tigers once again in the opening match and will want to start the tournament with a win. To note, Afghanistan defeated Sri Lanka in their first game of the Asia Cup 2022.
