India starts as favourites when the World Cup kicks off on October 5 in Ahmedabad. Agarkar is yet to meet the team management in person since his appointment. The selection committee and team management must work together with the World Cup 2023 on the horizon. They will also address issues with player fitness and workload management. Outlining a transition plan for the team’s future endeavours will also be discussed between the chairman of selectors and the team management.
The Asia Cup 2023 is vital preparation for India before the World Cup. It is the perfect dress rehearsal for the WC 2023 at home. Agarkar will want to align himself with the team management. The new chief selector ticked most boxes in his selection for the Asian Games and the IND vs WI T20Is and will hope to continue doing so.
