Senior batter Virat Kohli will once again step out on the field to shatter some records when India takes on West Indies in the second Test encounter set to be played from July 20 onwards. Ahead of the second match, Kohli is eyeing some major milestones including his 500th international match.
Indian Cricket Team to play fewer matches at Asian Games 2023 in China
1. 500th International Match
As mentioned above, Kohli is just one game away from playing 500th game for his country. The 34-year-old has represented India in 110 Tests, 274 ODIs and 115 T20Is so far. The modern-day great will be representing India in another Test but his name will go down in record books when faces West Indies at Queen’s Park Oval, Trinidad.
2. Surpass Jacques Kallis for Most International Runs
Regarded as one of the greatest all-rounders to ever grace the game of Cricket, Jacques Kallis stroked a monumental 25,534 in 617 innings in his entire Test career. Standing right behind him, Kohli might be able to surpass Kallis as he has already stroked 25,461 runs in 558 innings. The right-handed batter needs to score 73 runs to leap ahead of Kallis and take the fifth spot for most international runs.
3. Surpass Sehwag for Most Test Runs
Kohli is set to surpass his former Indian teammate Virender Sehwag in terms of runs scored in the Test format. While Sehwag has stroked 8586 runs in 104 matches, Kohli has amassed 8555 runs in 110 matches and needs just 31 more runs to get ahead of the Indian veteran in most Test runs list.
4. 76th International Century
Kohli was so close to getting to his long awaited 76th International century in the first game against the Carribean nation. He fell short of a century by just 24 runs before being scalped by Rakheem Cornwall. Coming to the second Test match, King Kohli will want to rectify his mistakes from the first innings and smash his 76th hundred for India.
