Suryakumar Yadav’s most recent cricket appearance was for West Zone in the 2023 Duleep Trophy. He delivered below-par performances with figures of 7 and 52 against Central Zone and 8 and 4 against South Zone. In the Indian Premier League 2023, playing for Mumbai Indians, he accumulated 605 runs in 16 matches with an average of 43.21. This included a century and five half-centuries.

IND vs WI: Despite Suryakumar Yadav’s recent struggles, including three consecutive golden ducks in the ODI series against Australia, he has been included in the ODI squad for the West Indies tour. In his 23 ODI matches, he has scored 433 runs at an average of 24.06, with two half-centuries. His last fifty came 15 innings ago against West Indies in February 2022.

Given the injuries to Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav will be eager to make a strong impact in the ODI series against West Indies as he aims to secure his spot in the 2023 ODI World Cup. The World Cup is scheduled to take place from October 5 to November 19 in India, and Yadav will be looking to improve his performance ahead of the tournament.

India’s ODI squad: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Virat Kohli, Surya Kumar Yadav, Sanju Samson (wicket-keeper), Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Shardul Thakur, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat, Mohammed Siraj, Umran Malik, Mukesh Kumar.
