Gautam Gambhir might not leave Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and join his former Indian Premier League (IPL) Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) according to reports. For the past two days, there have been growing speculations that the Southpaw will join KKR as a coach or in a supporting role. Currently, Gambhir is in the mentoring role for LSG and is doing a fine job by helping the franchise reach playoffs two times.
However, the India opener’s fascination for KKR is no secret as he is the only captain to win two IPL trophies for the franchise. “As of now, Gautam Gambhir isn’t going anywhere. He will be with Lucknow Super Giants,” claimed a source. With IPL 2024 season still seven months away, Gambhir and LSG have a lot of time to make the decision which will be in the best possible interest of the team.

Gautam Gambhir: No official announcement on Gambhir quitting LSG, Franchise announces Justin Langer as coach
While there is no official announcement yet on the former India cricketer quitting LSG, the franchise have announced Justin Langer will be the coach for the 2024 season. Andy Flower’s contract expired after IPL 2023 season, and the franchise did not renew it.
Langer’s last coaching stint was with the Australian team in 2018. The southpaw took over the reins after Sandpaper Saga and helped Australia win Ashes 2018-19 and also T20 World Cup in 2021.
Langer also coached Perth Scorchers and also has won three Big Bash League trophies. The former Australia opener is thrilled to coach LSG and believes he has a lot to offer for the franchise on their new journey. Lucknow Super Giants are on the journey of building a great story in the IPL. We all have a role to play in that journey, and I am excited to be a part of the team moving forward.”
