Senior spinner Ravichandran Ashwin wreaked havoc on the West Indies batting line-up as he completed a five-wicket haul. Apart from his fifer the veteran also passed the milestone of 700 International wickets. Due to his excellent performance, the visitors bundled out the home side for just 150 runs just after the Tea on Day 1.

Most five-wicket hauls in India-West Indies Tests
6 – Malcolm Marshall
5 – Harbhajan Singh
5 – Ravichandran Ashwin
Ashwin looked most lethal with the ball as he extracted bounce and turn. None of the batters managed to survive from Ash’s accuracy as he somewhat took out his frustration for not being selected in the playing XI of WTC final against Australia. The fans also took a dig at Rohit Sharma and Indian team management for keeping the off-spinner out of the team.
Earlier, he achieved a rare feat of getting the wickets of both father and son in his illustrious Test career when he dismissed Tagenarine Chanderpaul on the opening day of the first Test against the West Indies. Ashwin, who had made his Test debut in 2011 in New Delhi, had dismissed Tagenarine’s father Shivnarine Chanderpaul during his maiden appearance in the longest format.
Meanwhile, here are some Twitter Reactions on Ashwin’s fifer:
