India’s veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has joined the elite list after picking up his first wicket in the IND vs WI 1st Test. The Indian all-rounder dismissed Tagenarine Chanderpaul in the 13th over and became the first Indian bowler to take the wicket of Father & Son in Tests.

Notably, Ashwin dismissed Tagenarine’s father and West Indies legend Shivnarine Chanderpaul back in 2011 during IND vs WI 1st Test in New Delhi.
While Ashwin is the first Indian bowler to claim wickets of Father-Son duo in Tests, he is not the only international cricket.
England legend Ian Botham, Pakistan’s pacer Wasim Akram, Australia’s Mitchell Starc and South Africa’s Simon Harmer are the other players in the elite list.

Earlier, Virat Kohli joined the elite list of players playing against both father and son in international cricket. Virat Kohli faced Shivnarine Chanderpaul in the home series against West Indies in 2011.
Talking about the game, Team India have taken control of 1st session after picking three wickets. Debutant Alick Athanaze along with Raymon Reifer are on re-build mode.
Ravichandran Ashwin claimed two wickets by dismissing Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Kraigg Brathwaite. Shardul Thakur picked Raymon Reifer. Earlier, West Indies skipper Brathwaite won the toss and opted to bat first.
