Daniil Medvedev vs Christopher Eubanks

Daniil Medvedev ended Christopher Eubanks’ dream run at Wimbledon on Wednesday, when he clawed past the American 6-4, 1-6, 4-6, 7-6(4), 6-1 to reach the semi-finals at the grass-court major for the first time.

Eubanks, who less than four months ago had not cracked the Top 100 in the ATP Rankings, captured the attention of fans throughout the world by advancing to the quarter-finals, and was within a tie-break of blasting his way into the last four at The Championships. But Medvedev did not panic and locked down from the baseline when it mattered most to move on after two hours and 57 minutes.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Holger Rune

In a clash between two 20-year-olds, it was Carlos Alcaraz who triumphed over Holger Rune on Wednesday when he defeated the Dane 7-6(3), 6-4, 6-4 to reach his maiden Wimbledon semi-final.

Alcaraz’s match against the World No. 6 Rune was the first men’s Wimbledon quarter-final battle in the Open Era (since 1968) to be contested between two players aged under 21 and both played with youthful freedom on Centre Court to entertain the packed crowd.

They went blow for blow with their destructive shotmaking for two hours and 20 minutes, but the World No. 1 Alcaraz had the answers in the big moments, becoming the youngest man to reach the last four at SW19 since a then-20-year-old Novak Djokovic in 2007.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Madison Keys

Aryna Sabalenka is one win away from ending Iga Swiatek’s 67-week run as the WTA Tour’s No.1-ranked player.

After defeating No.25 seed Madison Keys 6-2, 6-4 on Wednesday in the Wimbledon quarterfinals, Sabalenka will need to defeat No.6 Ons Jabeur, who knocked off defending champion Elena Rybakina in three sets.

“To be honest,” Sabalenka told reporters, “I want both. But I’m trying to focus on myself because I know if I start thinking about all this stuff, I’m going to lose my focus on court, my game.

“Later on we’ll see if I’m ready to become World No. 1, or if I’m ready to play another final.”

Elena Rybakina vs Ons Jabeur

Twelve months after losing the Wimbledon final to Elena Rybakina from a set up, Ons Jabeur got her revenge in the sequel.

From a set down and 4-4 in the second set of Wednesday’s quarterfinal, sixth-seeded Jabeur won eight of the next nine games to beat third-seed and defending champion Rybakina 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-1, to reach her third career Grand Slam semifinal.

“I believe last year maybe I wasn’t ready to play this kind of match. I don’t regret last year. It happened for a reason. I always say it. It was meant to be this year. It was meant to be in the quarterfinals,” Jabeur said afterwards.
