Asia Cup Schedule on July 14 as PCB & BCCI bury hatchet in ICC Meeting

BCCI and PCB have agreed to the Hybrid Model for Asia Cup. The Asia Cup 2023 Schedule is set to be released on 14th July

Both BCCI and PCB have decided to bury the hatchets and have finally agreed on the Hybrid Model for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. With the two rival nations finding common ground, the Asia Cup 2023 schedule is all set to be released on upcoming Friday, July 14. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf and BCCI Secretary Jay Shah met in Durban to discuss the upcoming continental tournament.

“It’s a good beginning and there will be more meetings like this,” Ashraf told Pakistan media. “We have agreed to have more meetings and improve relations. It’s a good beginning,” the PCB chief added.

In a major turn of events both the parties have decided to bury the hatches and proceed with the tournament. Earlier, the then PCB chief Najam Sethi after initial objection claimed that the PCB was happy to accept ACC’s proposed Hybrid model. But things went downhill when Zaka Ashraf took over the reins of PCB from Sethi.

Zaka Ashraf went to object to the hybrid proposal claiming that they will not accept playing just 4 games in Pakistan while the remaining 9 matches are to be played in Sri Lanka. But now the duo has agreed to the hybrid model, and the schedule is set to be released on July 14.

Reports in the Pakistani media claim that both Ashraf and Shah exchanged mutual invitations. Reports claim that Shah was invited to Pakistan for the Asia Cup while Shah invited the former for the ICC World Cup in India.

We have had talks over Asia Cup and the hybrid model was approved. There was no such thing as invitation to each other,” a BCCI source told Cricbuzz.
