The apex cricket body of the nation, the BCCI is set to launch a widespread hunt all across the country in its bid to find bowlers. The main agenda for this talent hunt program -is to sort and seek youngsters who can potentially become match winners for the Men in Blue. The bowlers will preferably be in the range of 18-23 years and will be overseen at the National Cricket Academy.
“It was felt that we need to have bench strength in the bowling department to win Tests, hence the need for this move,” reported The Times of India.

Not only talent or form will cut the mark. The prime focus will be given to the fitness of the players and therefore for both the men’s and the women’s teams certain regulations and limits will be set. “A couple of players in the Indian women’s team were dropped for the Bangladesh tour as they failed to fulfil the fitness criteria. On the other hand, the BCCI can start giving grants to players who have played up to 24 first-class games. Currently, those who have played 25 games or more are entitled to the get the grants. The BCCI also plans to hand out one-time retirement benefits for those players who have played 50-70 first-class matches. Off late, only those having played more than 75 games get retirement benefits. “A final call in this regard will be taken at the BCCI’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).
