Virat Kohli: Kohli’s Test form in focus as India aim to start the new WTC Cycle on a winning note
All eyes will be on Virat Kohli after his failure in WTC final against Australia and in the practice match. While the right-hand batter is in fluent form in white-ball formats, he is yet to hit top gear in Test cricket. In the Border Gavaskar Trophy also Kohli could score only one Test century in Ahmedabad.
With the 35-year-old’s average dropping to below 50 in Tests, Kohli would be eager to score heavily against West Indies. In 2020, the legendary batter averaged only 19.33, failing to score a Test century. In 2021 Kohli scored 536 runs in 11 Tests, while he finished 2022 with 265 runs in six Tests.
Kohli’s dip in form has been one of the major reasons for India struggling in overseas conditions. If the RCB batter gets going, then it would be difficult to stop India. Against the West Indies, Kohli has fared well, scoring 822 runs in 14 Tests. The last time when India faced West Indies, the right-hand batter slammed a double hundred. Kohli would be aiming to hit that form this time around as well.
