Mason Greenwood, has reportedly agreed to join Serie A club Atalanta. Manchester United is nearing the end of its internal probe against Greenwood, who has not played for the club since January 2022. The Englishman is expected to arrive in Bergamo on Tuesday (July 11), having turned down interest from Juventus.
Greenwood’s career at Manchester United has been threatened following his arrest in January 2022. He was charged with rape attempt, controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault causing actual bodily injury.

However, those accusations were withdrawn in February, raising questions about his future at Old Trafford. The Red Devils have conducted their own internal inquiry into whether the player can or cannot return to the club.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is said to be open to Mason Greenwood returning to the club at some point. However, the outcry against his prospective return has resulted in loan or sale suggestions.

It is unclear if the reported move to Atalanta would be temporary or permanent. The Premier League club is yet to issue a comment on his predicament.
Before his arrest, the 21-year-old was considered as one of England’s brightest prospects. In 129 appearances with United, he scored 35 goals and assisted on 12 others. Surprisingly, the Red Devils have been connected to Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund. According to reports, Ten Hag’s team is planning a £50 million bid for the Danish striker.
