UFC July: Which card is better between Volkanovski vs Rodriguez and Poirier vs Gaethje?

Without a doubt, the UFC 290 Volkanovski vs Rodriguez card is better than the UFC 291 Poirier vs Gaethje card. There are several reasons for this. First up, UFC 290 has two title bouts and both are actual titles. The UFC 291 card only has a BMF title on the line, which is not even an official title.

Secondly, the UFC 290 card features some big names. The co-main event is a flyweight title bout between Brandon Moreno and Alexandre Pantoja. While that is good enough, there is also history between them, which makes it more interesting.

The card also features former world champion Robert Whittaker, South African Dricus Du Plessis, Dan Hooker, and exciting wrestler Bo Nickal, among others. UFC 291, on the other hand, has some big names. However, there is not as much on the line in those contests.

And finally, UFC 290 is the biggest combat sports event this weekend. However, that is not the case with UFC 291. On July 29, the same day as UFC 291, one of the biggest boxing fights in recent history will take place. Undefeated champions Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford will compete for the undisputed title. This will definitely affect the numbers and excitement for UFC 291.

Therefore, when you look at all these aspects, UFC 290 is definitely the safer bet at the box office than UFC 291. Between the UFC July events, UFC 290 is more likely to get higher numbers.
