PSG Chief opens up about Mbappe contract situation, say it’s either SIGN or SELL

PSG President Nasser Al Khelaifi gives Kylian Mbappe a deadline to sign a new contract with them. Otherwise, they will put him up for sale.

Kylian Mbappe Transfer: Kylian Mbappe has only one year left in his contract with PSG. However, the player has conveyed that he has no intention of extending his contract. She has also said that she does not want to leave the club at this moment. However, PSG are determined that they will not let one of their best players leave the club as a free agent. Hence they have provided Mbappe with an Ultimate that he either has to sign or he will be sold.

Kylian Mbappe’s contract with PSG expires at the end of the upcoming season in June 2024. With only one year left on his contract, the French player has not renewed his contract. Reportedly, he told PSG that he will not be extending it and will leave at the end of the upcoming season. However, he also said that will honour his contract and wants to stay at PSG till his contract runs out. For obvious reasons, this does not sit well with PSG chiefs.

PSG have recently fired their coach Christophe Galtier and hired Luis Enrique for the position. When Enrique was asked about Mbappe’s future, he said, “When I signed, we always remain open. A lot of things can happen. I will keep it private as it’s professional secrecy. I cannot give confidences but we will try to make the best possible squad for PSG.”

PSG chiefs have clearly said that they do not want a player of his caliber to leave. However, if Mbappe is determined to leave then he has to go before his contract runs out. They cannot let one of the world’s best players leave PSG as a free agent. Since they have given Mbappe I deadline of July end two either extend his contract or they will put him up for sale.

PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi said during an interview with La Parisien, “Mbappé has said that he will not leave for free. If he changed his mind, it is not my fault. We want Mbappé to stay but he can’t leave for free, it’s very clear and simple. It was a verbal agreement and Mbappé also said that publicly in an interview. So it’s not debatable. We had an agreement with Mbappé as he confirmed, verbal agreement.”

He added, “Kylian is a fantastic boy, a gentleman… and leaving for free, when we’re the biggest French club, it’s not at his level. We do not want him to leave for free in 2024. Our position is clear. If Kylian wants to stay, we want him to stay. But he needs to sign a new contract. We don’t want to lose the best player in the world for free, it’s impossible.”

The PSG President gave him a deadline saying, “He has to decide next week or in two weeks. No more than this. If he does not want to sign a new contract, the door is OPEN. No one is bigger than the club, no player, not even me. It’s very clear.” PSG start their upcoming season on 13th August. It will be decided in the next two weeks whether Mbappe starts the upcoming season as a PSG player or not.
