Former India fast bowler and current BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar, joined batting legend Sachin Tendulkar Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh for a lunch on Tuesday. Tendulkar shared a glimpse of their gathering on his Instagram revealing that the trio had a lunch together in London along with their spouses. “Two things that keep us close are friendship and food. Met this bunch for an awesome lunch”, Tendulkar captioned the picture he shared on his Instagram account.

During the lunch, they were accompanied by Dr. Muffazal Lakdawala, a surgeon and Covid warrior, along with his wife Priyanka Kaul. Also present were the wives of Ajit Agarkar and Yuvraj Singh—educationist Fatima Agarkar (who is also Muffazal’s cousin) and Hazel Keech.
Agarkar was appointed as the chairman of selectors for the Indian men’s cricket team on Tuesday. The position had been vacant since February when Chetan Sharma resigned following a sting operation conducted on him by an Indian television network.
Agarkar, who played 26 Test matches and 191 ODIs, is the senior-most member of the selection panel and automatically assumes the role of chairman as per BCCI rules. The selection panel, which includes Shiv Sunder Das, Salil Ankola, Subroto Banerjee, and S Sharath, will now focus on choosing the team for the upcoming five T20Is against West Indies, commencing on August 3.
It is reported that Ajit Agarkar was the unanimous choice of the Cricket Advisory Committee, consisting of Ashok Malhotra, Sulakshana Naik, and Jatin Paranjape, who conducted the interviews for the position. However, it is unclear whether Agarkar was the sole applicant for the role, as the BCCI had previously advertised the vacancy with a deadline of June 30.
