Ashes 2023: Ben Stokes – The Jonny Bairstow run-out saga is not going to end anytime sooner. After Gautam Gambhir lashed out at the so-called ‘slegders’, it is time for Australian media who have brutally trolled England team after Bairstow was dismissed in a controversial way in the second Ashes Test at Lord’s. The West Australian media publication put Ben Stokes’s photo in a diaper and gave a fitting caption ‘Crybabies.’
However, Stokes saw the funny side of things and gave a calm replay re-sharing the photo by saying, “That’s definitely not me, since when did I bowl with the new ball.”
Below the English captain’s photo, the Aussie Media also brutally attacked by saying, ‘Poms take whingeing to a new level with cheating drivel.’ For the unversed, Bairstow gingerly walked over to Stokes assuming the over was completed. However, Australia wicketkeeper Alex Carey showed game smarts and causally flicked the ball onto the stumps. Bairstow was found short of the ground and was given run out.
That was the turning point in the game, as despite Stokes’s insane knock of 155, England fell short of 43 runs. While it is been two days to the Bairstow dismissal, England are still not able to digest the fact that Australia won by ‘Cheating.’

Ben Stokes: Geoffrey Boycott wants a public apology from Pat Cummins & Co
Former England cricketer Geoffrey Boycott had demanded a public apology from Pat Cummins & Co after the Bairstow dismissal. The cricketer-turned-expert reckons the public will think highly of Australians if they admit their mistake. Boycott feels Bairstow run out was not a case of non-striker run out.
“If a batsman is trying to pinch some ground, as in a Mankad situation, then that is different. Jonny was not trying to steal a run. Australia now have had the time to think about what happened.
“We all make mistakes in the heat of the moment. People will think better of the Australians if they put their hands up and say ‘We’ve got it wrong’. That is the way to go. Let’s see over the next few days if they are man enough to do that.”
