Satadru Dutta who was instrumental in bringing Martinez to Kolkata said, “Martinez is aware that Argentina has a huge fan following in the Indian subcontinent. He thought Kolkata meant Bangladesh. So clarity had to be given that though they speak the same language, one is a country, and the other a city in a state. The common denominator between the two is football and the massive fan following for Argentina and Brazil.”

On 4th July, Emi Martinez will be a part of a meet and greet event named ‘Tahader Kotha’ where football fans will be a chance to interact with the star Argentine player. Following this, he will travel to the Mohun Bagan Club to inaugurate the gates and meet with the fans. On 5th July, he will visit Santosh Mitra Square where he will once again indulge in a meet and greet event.
