In his first season at the helm, Man United coach Erik Ten Hag has improved their chances of winning major trophies. He started by ending Man United’s six-year trophy drought by winning the EFL Cup. They also ended the season in 3rd position in the Premier League table. Hence, Ten Hag also led the Red Devils to a Champions League qualification. However, that also means that they need to strengthen the team in order to succeed in Europe. Hence, they are looking to rebuild the team.

The Red Devils are already close to signing the talented midfielder Mason Mount from Chelsea. They are also looking to bring in Andre Onana from Internazionale. They are facing hindrance there as well as Inter are asking for at least £43-48 million for their first choice goalkeeper. Other than these, Man United are looking for an effective forward in their team. Marcus Rashford has been amazing for the Red Devils last season. However, his total goal tally came to 30 goals throughout all competitions.

Coach Ten Hag is looking for another forward who can keep providing them with a steady number of goals. Additionally, if Man United progress far in other competitions, they will be playing on a tight schedule. Hence, in case of injuries, they will need to have effective players ready to come on. The Red Devils targeted Harry Kane from Spurs, Victor Osimhen from Napoli, and Hojlund from Atalanta. However, both Spurs and Napoli are asking for at least £100 million for their star players.

Man United have a limited budget to spend this summer. Hence, they will not be going all out for Kane or Osimhen. As a result, they have focused on Hojlund and presented their first bir worth £31 million. However, Atalanta have rejected the bid as they have made it clear that they will not be accepting any bid lower than £35-39 million. The Red Devils’ next steps are yet unknown, but they could bid again for Hojlund. He was asked about the prospect of being able to play for Manchester United.

Hojlund said, “It is a huge club, so I must have done something right if it’s rumoured they want me. We have to see what happens. As you see and hear, I imagine a lot could happen to quite a few strikers this summer, as many clubs are looking for a no9. Something will definitely happen there, and then we’ll have to wait and see if I am included in it… I have found myself in a really good place here (in Atalanta), so now we have to wait and see.”
