Pakistan Cricket: ODI World Cup 2023 – The ODI World Cup schedule was revealed on June 27, with 10 venues chosen by BCCI and ICC to host 48 matches during the 13th edition of the showpiece event. Kolkata is one of the venues chosen to host five matches, and more importantly, it will host a few Pakistan matches. Naturally, with Men in Green playing in the City of Joy, Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) President Snehasish Ganguly has promised tighter security arrangements.
“We have already hosted India vs Pakistan in T20Is. But we are having two Pak matches. These matches are tough. Organizing a World Cup is challenging. We are prepared to take on any kind of challenge. In all the IPL matches we had lovely crowd,” CAB President said to India Today.

Pakistan Cricket: CAB President Snehasish confident of fulfilling Pakistan matches at Eden Gardens
For the uninitiated, Pakistan had requested ICC and BCCI for playing their matches in Kolkata and Chennai. PCB’s wish got fulfilled as they will be playing two matches at Eden Gardens one against Bangladesh and another against England. CAB President Snehasish is confident to host Babar Azam & Co and will make special security arrangements too.
“I am very confident about hosting the matches. Special security arrangements will be there for Pakistan. I think Pakistan has played previously in Kolkata. I don’t know the inside story. But their first preference is Kolkata, followed by Chennai and Bengaluru.”
The CAB president added, “I have faith on Kolkata Police. The security system will be tighter than the normal matches. I have also faith in CM Mamata Banerjee and her administration.”
CAB president also thanked BCCI and Jay Shah for allotting Kolkata five crucial games during the World Cup. “We are satisfied. I really want to thank Jay Shah, BCCI, and the ICC. I was working for the last 4 months. I have been working for the good matches. We show the designs and everything. We have got the best ground in the IPL.
We never had a question mark about this. So a lot of plus-minus includes in these kinds of decisions. Jay Shah promised to give me good matches. I thanked Mr. Jay Shah and BCCI that they have a good perspective about Eden Gardens.”
