Arsenal’s third bid for Declan Rice is REJECTED, Man City pull out of the race

Arsenal’s third bid for Declan Rice is REJECTED, Man City pull out of the race

West Ham United rejects Arsenal's offer of £100 million plus £5 million in add-ons. Manchester City pulls out after their £80 million plus £10 million offer is rejected.

Declan Rice Transfer: West Ham United have rejected Arsenal’s third bid for their captain Declan Rice. Arsenal offered an £80 million and a £90 million bid in the first two times but were rejected both times. Their third bid was valued at £105 million and West Ham have rejected that as well. The Hammers were waiting for Manchester City’s bid which came and the offer was for £90 million. However, the Hammers rejected that as well. Reportedly, following this, Man City have pulled out of the race to sign the England midfielder.

Arsenal presented their third deal to West Ham United for a £100 million plus add-ons. They are willing to pay the £100 million within a certain period of time which has not been in West Ham’s preference. They want more money paid to them upfront, so they have not rejected the deal in an outright manner. However, they have not agreed to the deal either. As per reports, the Hammers have no issues with the amount, so they will keep on negotiating to come up with the best solution.

Arsenal presented the Hammers with 2 more offers prior to this. Their first offer was worth £80 million including add-ons. Their second offer was worth £90 million including a £15 million add-ons. West Ham rejected both bids and were not willing to accept any bid below £100 million. Following Arsenal’s first two bids, the Hammers were waiting for Manchester City’s bid. Man City’s offer came through as they presented the Hammers with a £80 million deal with £10 million in add-ons.

The offer did not match the Hammers’ asking price which is £100 million. As a result, Man City’s offer was rejected as well. Following that Man City backed away and pulled out from the race to sign Declan Rice. Manchester City won the treble last season. This means they won the prize money for winning the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the Champions League. They have enough money to buy the players they need. However, they have worked as per their own valuation during transfer windows.

Man City have shown this to be the be even on previous occasions. They backed out during Harry Maguire, Jorginho, and Marc Cucurella’s deal. The Cityzens pulled out of the deals as soon as the transfer price moved up more than their valuation. They have done the same this time with Declan Rice. Arsenal are in the lead now to win the race to sign Rice. As both clubs seem to be in agreement regarding the amount, they only need to agree on the structure of the deal to make the transfer happen.

If Manchester City matched the Hammers’ asking price or topped Arsenal’s bid, it could have been hard for Rice to say no to Pep Guardiola. However, as per reports, Rice always liked Mikel Arteta’s playing style and only wanted a move to Arsenal. Some additional factors were that he wouldn’t have had to move away from London if he joined Arsenal. Seems like he will be getting his wish fulfilled soon enough if both clubs can come to an agreement on the details.
