Now the question is why such a change? On 31st December of 2022 while traveling to his hometown Rourkee, Rishabh Pant met with a dangerous accident where his car crashed with a road divider. He was immediately rushed to local hospitals before being airlifted from Dehradun to Mumbai.
It was in Mumbai where he underwent his first successful operation out of the multiple surgeries that he had over the past 6 months. Now reflecting back on the incident, Pant has claimed that 5th January 2023 is his second birthday.
Following his surgeries, Rishabh Pant has been progressing well in the NCA and reports claim that his recovery is happening at a much faster rate than was anticipated. However, the destructive southpaw faces a race against time to be fit for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023. With a little over 3 months remaining for the mega tournament, it remains to be seen if Pant can recover in time.

In the accident, Pant tore all 3 of his ligaments and had 2 ligaments reconstructed and the third one later after 6 weeks from the initial surgery. Pant continues his progress at the NCA as he occasionally continues sharing his updates on social media.
