Roger Federer, who retired from professional tennis last year, was a ball kid as a child in his home tournament, Swiss Indoors Basel, and said it was a return to his childhood roots.

“This is proper practice, I’m really impressed,” Federer said during one of their drills as they rolled balls and ran across the court.

The princess also took an impressive one-handed catch but was told by Federer that ball kids aren’t allowed to catch the ball directly and must wait for the ball to stop before they retrieve it.

“You’re meant to let it bounce and then get it,” said the ball girl standing next to the Princess and instructing her. “But good catch.”
