Performing a good transfer business is essential for every club before the football season kick-starts. Premier League clubs are splashing money and spending fanatically to sign the best player and bolster their squad. Almost two weeks are left for the first game. The clubs have already spent around $1,100m to acquire the players of their choice.
Insidesport takes look at the top 10 Premier League signings this season so far, before the summer window smash shut on 31 August.
10. Mohammed Salah (Mid-fielder)- $44m
Liverpool signed the Egyptian mid-fielder from Roma with a record deal of $44m. Salah has scored 29 goals in 65 appearances in Serie A across two seasons with Roma.
9. Enderson Moraes (Goalkeeper)- $46m
Manchester City agreed a deal to sign Benfica goalkeeper Ederson Moraes for £35m ($46m) for Ederson. This makes it the biggest ever pound sterling deal for a goalkeeper.
8. Tiemoue Bokayoko (Mid-fielder) – $ 53m
French central midfielder who was instrumental in Monaco’s Ligue 1 triumph last season, as well as their impressive run to the Champions League semi-finals is now a Chelsea man, who reportedly paid $53m to sign the player.
7. Nemanja Matic (Mid-fielder)- $53m
Manchester United have acquired Nemanja Matic from Chelsea for $53m on a three-year deal, reuniting the player with his former manager Jose Mourinho. The Serbian was a key component of Chelsea’s title-winning team.
6. Bernardo Silva (Mid-fielder)- $ 56m
The Portuguese playmaker has been roped in by Manchester City from the French side, Benfica. Silva made 51 appearances last season, scoring 10 goals and assisting a further 10, leading to the Ligue 1 title and the Champions League semi-finals.
5. Kyle Walker (Defender)- $ 59m
Manchester City completed the signing of Tottenham defender Kyle Walker in a deal worth $59m. The deal is a record for an English player transfer.
4. Alexandre Lacazzatte (Forward)- $ 61m
Arsenal completed a club-record signing of Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon for a fee believed to be in the region of $61million. He became the most expensive player in Arsenal’s history, eclipsing the $55m Wenger paid to sign Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid in 2013.
3. Benjamin Mendy (Defender)- $ 68m
Manchester City took their summer spending to more than $264m with the signing of Benjamin Mendy from Monaco. The transfer fee of $68m for Mendy is a world record for a defender.
2. Alvaro Morata (Forward)- $ 80m
Chelsea pulled off an incredible transfer coup by agreeing to a deal worth $80m with Real Madrid for Spanish International Alvaro Morata. The deal eclipsed the previous record of the club that saw Fernando Torres in 2011 becoming the most expensive signing.
1. Romelu Lukaku (Forward)- $100m
The most expensive signing for the season so far, the Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku was roped in by Manchester United for a record fee from Everton after much interest from the former club, Chelsea.
