WATCH how Ricky Ponting, Matthew Hayden destroys Ollie Robinson

Ricky Ponting and Matthew Hayden unimpressed by the send off given by Ollie Robinson to Usman Khawaja during the first Ashes Test

Ollie Robinson: Legendary cricketer Ricky Ponting has suggested England pacer Ollie Robinson to back his words with skill after he publicly justified his hostile send-off to Usman Khawaja citing Ponting’s sledging as a player during the first Ashes Test in Oval. On day three of the first Ashes Test, Robinson removed the dangerous Khawaja for 141 and celebrated by apparently shouting F* off, F*ing pick.

While Ponting remained tightlipped on the topic on commentary for Sky Sports for two days of the Test but delivered a stern message to Robinson on ICC Review Podcast on Wednesday.

“As I said after Ollie Robinson said what he said, this England cricket team hasn’t played against Australia, and they’ll find out pretty quickly what playing Ashes cricket and playing against a good Australian cricket team is all about,” Ponting said. “And if Robinson hasn’t learned that already after last week, then he’s a slow learner.”

Ollie Robinson: ‘Forgettable Cricketer’Matthew Hayden’s savage response to Robinson’s sledging

While Ponting was a bit sober on delivering message to the England bowler, Hayden was far savage on Robinson’s unwanted sledging towards Khawaja, and said, “That’s how you combat England as well. As soon as Pat Cummins started coming at Joe Root and hit a couple of sixes,” Hayden said. “

Then the other bloke; he’s a forgettable cricketer. A fast bowler that is bowling 124 (kph) nude nuts and he’s got a mouth from the south.” When Healy asked, “Who, Ollie Robinson?”, Hayden replied, “Someone like him, you can just go, ‘Brother, I’m coming at ya’

Robinson did not have any regrets in going hard at Khawaja and said he does not really care about what people think, and that he is here to provide blockbuster cricket for the crowds.

“It’s my first home Ashes and to get the big wicket at the time was special for me. I think Uzzie played unbelievably well. To get that wicket for us as a team at the time was massive. We all want that theatre of the game, don’t we? So I’m here to provide it,” he said. “I don’t really care how it’s perceived, to be honest. It’s the Ashes. It’s a professional sport. If you can’t handle that, what can you handle?”

Australia are currently leading the five-match Ashes series by 1-0. The second Ashes Test will start on Wednesday (June 28) at Lord’s Cricket Stadium.
