MS Dhoni confirms to CSK CEO that he will start ‘rehab soon’

Kasi Viswanthan opens about MS Dhoni's participation in IPL 2024 season.

MS Dhoni: Kasi Viswanathan – Mahendra Singh Dhoni in all probability play the next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after successfully undergoing knee surgery in Mumbai. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed that Dhoni will soon begin his rehab in Ranchi and give it his all to be fit before the IPL 2024 commences in March end. Dhoni has about nine months’ time, and the legendary cricketer is keen to return to play at least one season of IPL.

“Actually, he told us immediately after the final is over he’ll fly to Mumbai, have surgery, and go back to Ranchi for rehab,” Viswanathan said to ESPN Cricinfo. “In Mumbai, after Ruturaj’s wedding [on June 4], I visited him. It was a courtesy call. He’s quite comfortable. He said he’ll rest for three weeks and then start his rehab. And like he said, he’s not going to play until January-February. We don’t need to remind him about all that,” Kasi added to ESPN Cricinfo.

MS Dhoni: Dhoni only communicates with N Srinivasan about how to go about things – Kasi Viswanathan

While there were reports and images of Dhoni’s dodgy knee throughout the IPL 2023 season, the CSK skipper still did not complain anything to Kasi. Instead, the CSK CEO said Dhoni only communicates with N Srinivasan about his health and other things related CSK camp. It is been like that since 2008.

“Actually, he told us immediately after the final is over, he’ll fly to Mumbai, have surgery, and go back to Ranchi for rehab,” Viswanathan said. “In Mumbai, after Ruturaj’s wedding [on June 4], I visited him. It was a courtesy call. He’s quite comfortable. He said he’ll rest for three weeks and then start his rehab. And like he said, he’s not going to play until January-February. We don’t need to remind him about all that.

Dhoni is currently in Ranchi enjoying the break after the hectic IPL season. During the off time, the CSK skipper is spending quality time with his family and was also seen driving a Mini Cooper.

Srinivasan opens about Jadeja Dhoni rift

Srinvisan also brushed aside any possible rift between Dhoni and Jadeja. There were reports circulating that the southpaw is miffed with the way he was removed from captaincy mid-way through last IPL season. Then an image of Dhoni and the all-rounder having a heated argument surfaced online, and later Kasi was also seen pacifying Jadeja. The southpaw was also apparently not happy when crowds chanted Dhoni when he was batting.

“As far as Jadeja is concerned, he bowled superbly,” Viswanathan said. “While batting, our line-up of Ruturaj, Conway, Moeen, Rahane, with the results, whenever he [Jadeja] went in to bat, he had 5-10 balls left. In such situations, it can or can’t click sometimes.

But the thing is, he also knew Dhoni was to come in next, and he himself would get just 2-3 balls sometimes. In such situations, whenever he went in, the crowd used to welcome Dhoni. In a way, he may have felt hurt. Any player for that matter, may have had that pressure. But he didn’t complain about it even though he put out a tweet.
