“We have written to the ICC that we can’t give approval or disapproval to this [World Cup schedule]. It’s our government who has to decide, just like when it comes to India, it’s their government that decides when they go to play,” said Najam Sethi who stepped down from his role of interim Chairman.
The Pakistan Cricket Board have made it clear that they can only send their approval once their Government gives the green signal for the match venues. However, the BCCI has paid no heed to the matter and have rejected the request.
It is these delays that have been holding up the release of the ICC World Cup Schedule. Now, as soon as the clearance is sent by the PCB, the ICC will release the schedule, and 27th June looks the most probable date for the release.
