Edgbaston Weather, ENG vs AUS: We are finally on the fifth and final day of the first Ashes test between England and Australia. England needs to take 7 wickets on Day 5 to seal the deal while Australia needs another 174 runs to win. The weather in Edgbaston looks dismal on Tuesday, so rain is likely to ruin what might be an interesting day. Check out the full weather report below.

ENG vs AUS 1st Test set for thrilling finish, Australia need 174, England need 7 wickets on Day 5

Australia reached 107/3 at stumps on Day 4 and now need 174 runs to win. Usman Khawaja and Scott Boland provided some fight. As David Warner, Marnus Labuschagne, and Steve Smith are no longer with them, Khawaja, who scored a century in the first innings, will be crucial. The roles of Travis Head, Cameron Green, and Alex Carey will all be important.

Stuart Broad and Ollie Robinson both took two wickets for the English assault. England’s second innings was dismissed for 273 runs thanks to four wickets apiece from Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon. In the second innings, none of the English batters reached the 50-run mark, with three of them—Joe Root, Harry Brook, and Ben Stokes—falling in the bottom half.

Edgbaston Weather for Day 5

Given the bleak prognosis for England’s second-largest city, it is unclear if a full day of cricket would be playable. After the Met Office issued a thunderstorm warning at 4.30am, when heavy rain and thunderstorms were heading northeast across the West Midlands, the rain began to fall about 8am local time, or 5pm AEST.

There is a 95% probability of rain from 8 to 9 am local time (5 to 6 pm AEST), according to the most recent weather forecast from the BBC (as of 5.15 pm AEST, 8 am local). The storm will weaken over the morning, but it will increase to 97% the next hour. At 11 a.m., the probability of rain is predicted to be 84 percent, fall to 54 percent at noon, and then reach 40 percent the next hour.
