The former Indian all-rounder Chetan Sharma is back in the role of chairman of selectors, but this time for the North Zone team. The meeting of the North Zone selection committee was presided over by Sharma, who had earlier resigned from his post as the Indian team’s top selector as a result of a news channel sting operation.
Chetan Sharma presided over the meeting, which was chaired by Anirudh Chaudhry, a former treasurer of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), as the representative of Haryana.

On June 15, the selection meeting was held at Gurgaon Cricket Ground. For the next Duleep Trophy, which will take place in Bangalore from June 28 to July 16, Mandeep Singh has been selected as the team’s captain for the North Zone.
Yash Dhull, the captain of the team that won the 2022 U-19 World Cup, was left off the North Zone roster. While other members include Dhruv Shorey, Harshit Rana, Prashant Chopra, Prabhsimran Singh, and Manan Vohra.
The 15-person roster was finalised by the Chetan Sharma-led committee, who also revealed eight stand-by players. The zonal side’s coach and support staff were also disclosed by the panel.
Chetan Sharma, who presided over the national selection committee for three years prior, is making a sort of comeback with this. Nevertheless, the scandal surrounding the sting operation forced him to resign in February.
Since that time, the Indian team has been without a selectors’ chairperson. The BCCI has not yet started the process of replacing Chetan Sharma in the North Zone, instead Sib Sundar Das from Odisha has been acting as the interim chief selector.
Officials from the North Zone acknowledged that they were in charge of the meeting but declined to comment, saying convenor Chaudhry should be the one to address the media. No one could quickly get in touch with Chaudhry.
