Joelinton, who helped Newcastle reach a Champions League qualification slot, is set to make his international debut in Brazil’s midfield with captain Casemiro. Naby Keita, who just confirmed a free transfer from Liverpool to Werder Bremen, is the standout name in Guinea’s team.

Joelinton, a midfielder for Newcastle United, scored his first goal for Brazil after 27 minutes. Attacker for Real Madrid Vinicius Jr. scored a late penalty. The Selecao defeated a determined Guinea 4-1 to win for the first time since the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Third-placed Brazil scored twice in the opening three minutes of the first half at Espanyol’s RCDE Stadium against a team that is 76 positions lower than them in the FIFA rankings. Before Madrid’s Rodrygo pounced on a ball from Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Richarlison and delivered a nice finish, Joelinton poked in from close range.

Guirassy Serhou used a header during a counterattack to restore parity for Guinea by taking advantage of a disoriented Brazilian defence. With a powerful header, Militao increased Brazil’s advantage, and Vinicius’ penalty kick four minutes from the finish sealed the victory for Brazil.

Brazil restored their two-goal advantage two minutes into the second half on a night when they played the first half in black shirts as part of a campaign against racism. Madrid defender Eder Militao headed in a cross from Lucas Paqueta of West Ham United.

Goalkeeper Ederson of Manchester City successfully made two saves to stop Guinea’s Jose Kante from scoring from close range before Vinicius Jr., who received horrible racial abuse during previous games in Spain, scored a penalty three minutes from time.

Although Vinicius Jr.’s goal was appreciated on a day when players and supporters stood together against prejudice, the 22-year-old was also a touch unlucky to have his shot deflect off Ibrahima Kone’s body as the goalie dove in the right direction.
