Yoel Romero: UFC News: Yoel Romero, the former UFC fighter, has made a name for himself on social media with his entertaining antics that often leave fans in stitches. Nevertheless, it’s surprising to learn that Romero earned more money from a legal settlement than he did throughout his entire career in the UFC. Romero, was a leading contender for the UFC middleweight title in 2015, but his career took a major hit when he was suspended due to a positive urine test for a prohibited substance. However, from this he managed to earn more than what he did in his UFC career.

Yoel Romero Legal Settlement Surpassed Lifetime Earnings in UFC

In 2016, Romero got suspended for six months, during which time he was unable to fight and earn a living. However, he decided to take legal action against the manufacturer of the supplement, Goldstar Performance Products, claiming he lost career opportunities and his reputation was damaged by the doping suspension. He alleged Goldstar was liable for negligence, intentional misrepresentation and violating consumer protection laws.

However, the president of Goldstar, Steven Hankin, failed to respond to the lawsuit or appear in court, the judge awarded Romero a default judgment of $9.15 million. This sum included $3.15 million for lost income, $3 million for reputation damages, and $3 million for emotional distress. To put things in perspective, Romero’s total earnings from his UFC career were less than $3 million.

While it’s unfortunate that Romero’s career was derailed by the suspension, it’s a testament to his resilience that he was able to turn the situation around and earn a significant settlement from the supplement manufacturer. It’s a reminder that athletes need to be vigilant about what they put into their bodies, and that companies have a responsibility to list all ingredients on their products’ labels. In any case, Romero’s legal settlement is a major victory for the fighter, and proof that justice can be served both inside and outside of the octagon.
