This is the longest Guardiola has served as a manager in any team. Before joining City, the 52-year-old was managing Bayern Munich, where he guided them to Bundesliga victory in all three seasons. However, he established himself as a prominent manager way early when he joined Barcelona.

In 4 seasons at Barcelona, Guardiola won 3 League titles, and 2 Champions League including one treble. Still, questions were raised about his management style for not winning a European trophy with a team other than Barcelona.

It took Guardiola around 9 years at Manchester City to answer those questions. He finally guided City to win their first UEFA Champions League trophy which also completed the treble. It was also special for Pep as he became the first manager to win 2 trebles with 2 different teams.

But after this historical feat, the Spaniards might look for new challenges. According to reports, Guardiola will be ending his tenure at City, which will be shy of a decade, in 2025. He joined them back in 2016 and has made City a dominant force in European football.

City have won 5 Premier League trophies, 2 FA Cup, and 1 Champions League trophy in the last 6 seasons under Pep Guardiola.

It is unclear where Pep will be heading after stepping down from City’s managerial role. Many assume a move to the national team is inevitable as teams like Argentina, Spain, and England have shown their interest in appointing him as their national team’s manager. Some reports also claimed of Guardiola heading to Italy for new challenges. However, one might also expect him to take a break from football before coming back.

Guardiola has been managing teams since 2007 just after he hung up his boots in 2006. So, the 52-year-old might need a break after he has won everything.
