Gautam Gambhir: One of the major talking points of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season was the ugly confrontation between Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli. More than a month later, Gambhir opened by saying that he does not have any problem with Kohli and shares the same equation with Kohli as Dhoni. The southpaw also clarified that the on-field spat that happened between him and Kohli stays on the field.
Gautam Gambhir said, “My relationship with MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli are the same. If there is an argument between us, it stays only on the field, not off the field. There’s nothing personal. They want to win as much as I do. (On News18).
Gautam Gambhir: Gambhir makes a massive statement, says no personal grudges, just being competitive
For the unversed Gambhir and Kohli had a heated argument during LSG vs RCB game in Lucknow on May 1. While the fight was between Kohli and Naveen -ul-Haq, Gambhir got agitated that his player was accused by Kohli.
Ever since that day, there are various speculations going on that Gambhir is jealous of Kohli as well as Dhoni’s success. The southpaw, though remained silent and said he just is competitive as both and there is no animosity of the field, and whatever happens on the field stays there.
Gambhir also spoke at length about having heated arguments with many such individuals and taking a stand for his players. “I have had such heated moments with many people. It was just two individuals who wanted their team to win.
I thought Naveen was right, and I took a stand. I would have done the same if he was in the opposition, and I stick by my stand. I have a lot of respect for what Virat Kohli has done for India. What happens on the field stays there. That’s all I want to say on this.”
