Shots Fired, Pat Cummins dismisses Rohit Sharma’s three-match WTC Final demand, this is what he said

I think it's fine. No qualms. I think ideally you'd have 50 match series but Olympics have come down to one race to win a gold medal," said Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins and Co completed a thumping victory over India to be crowned as the World Test champions. The Aussies were a better side in all three departments and were rewarded with the ultimate prize. Meanwhile, Cummins shot down Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s idea to play a three-match series to decide the winner for the World Test Championship.

“I would love that. But is there a time? That’s the big question. But honestly, in a big event like this, you need to have fair opportunities to both the teams. You know, a three-match series would be nice, but it’s about finding that window where it can be fit in. But I would love to have – in an event like this, you work hard for two years and then you have only one shot at it,” said Rohit.

So, it’s not really – you cannot get into that momentum that you need in Test cricket. You know, Test cricket is all about finding that rhythm, finding that momentum as well. So, I think, yeah if in the next cycle, if it is possible, three match series would be ideal,” he added.

When asked the same question Cummins, he replied, “I think it’s fine. No qualms. I think ideally you’d have 50 match series but Olympics have come down to one race to win a gold medal. AFL, NRL seasons have finals. That’s sport.”

Coming off a break, everyone switched on when it mattered. Everyone played really well and we’ll savour this for a few years before we turn our attention (to the Ashes). This is our favourite format, we grew up watching Test cricket. It challenges you. When you win, it’s the format you get most satisfaction with,” he added.
